Im going to my first job fair to get a job and Im kinda nervous. I have never been to one before so I was wondering if anyone could give me advice or tips?|||Check beforehand what companies are represented at the fair.
Make a list of these companies.
Go online, check their %26quot;about%26quot; section and their philosophy. Fix your resume and cover letter accordingly to the information you find about these companies.
(I usually do that if I really like any particular company. If not, I just give my generic resume)
What I normally do is print 25 resumes and few cover letters.
My cover letter states information that makes me stand out.
For example, I state that I have good work ethics, I am a team player, fast learner, I work independently well, etc.
DRESS FOR SUCCESS
Wear formal attire, but not too vulgar.
Some people overdress, and it is really not necessary.
I dress modestly and comfortable. I choose flat shoes over high hills.
The key is to feel comfortable in your skin!
I also put on glasses. Believe it or not, but they do make people look smarter.
When approaching the recruiter I firmly shake their hand and with a big smile I first introduce myself.
( I practiced this move with my boyfriend beforehand, because I was extremely nervous too. Pretend like you are acting. If you practice this with your friends you will get a good laugh, but then this handshake will come to you naturally. )
Then I tell them my majors, my graduation date and ask %26quot;how can I be useful for their company?%26quot;.
Ok. Your job is done! Recruiters love talking about their job.
Then you just leave your resume with them, thank them for their time and shake their hand again.
Hand shake is very important. It gives you confidence and they sure will remember you!
Good luck...|||BRING LOTS OF COPIES OF YOUR RESUME. DRESS LIKE YOUR GOING TO CHURCH. AND EVENTHOUGH EVERYONE SAYS THIS %26quot;BE YOURSELF%26quot; DON%26#039;T BE NERVOUS...SO IS EVERYONE ELSE THERE SO JUST ADMIT IT%26#039;S AN EVEN PLAYING FEILD AND YOU HAVE THE CONFIDANCE|||Bring lots of resumes and dress professionally. also have a sales pitch. Introduce yourself and what type of job are you seeking. Hoping that the employers do have the type of job you are looking for. If not, then they will be on the lookout for you. Don%26#039;t be nervous and good luck.
