How hard is it to get a job in the medical field,as cardiology tech or echocardography tech?

I am currently going to school for both, but have no previous experience in medical field. I am freaking out that I will never get a job once I get the certificates. Living in Chicago area.|||I have a lot of friends who were in medical school while I was attending law school and at least according to them, finding a job wasnt the difficult part of the whole process....it was getting the education itself. So perk up, there%26#039;s always jobs in the medical field and as long as you do well in your studies you should be just fine.....especially in a big a.ss city like Chicago. Maybe you can be Oprah%26#039;s own personal cardiology tech.|||The medical industry has huge potential for jobs. There is always demand. I wouldn%26#039;t worry too much-- get good grades, get some internship or volunteer.|||You should do just fine.

See what leads %26amp; introductions your school can make for you.

Check the classified ads to see how many offerings there are to get an idea of the job market.

May not get the job you want right out of school , but there are options.

One trend is for hospitals to take on per-diem workers ( no benefits as a sort of try before you buy) .

Can lead to a permanent position or maybe night %26amp; weekend on call .

There are plenty of %26quot;free-standing%26quot; cardio. clinics that have full time techs who float between affiliated offices.

Know techs who are freelancers that cover several doctor%26#039;s offices.

No benefits but they make up for it w/ higher salaries.

Also easier to make up their own work schedule %26amp; time off.

Live in NY area %26amp; there is actually a problem ( nice one for you) where docs are %26quot;raiding%26quot; hospitals for staff.

You will find your way.

Best of luck.

Is it wise to apply for a job that wants experience that I don't have?

I want to apply for a assitant manager position for an apartment complex. However, I have never worked near an apartment. The ad asks for a proven track record in property management. Is there a way to %26quot;fudge%26quot; my resume to help me land an interview? HELP. I really want this job. I meet all of the other requirements.|||I would not fudge my resume, but I would defintely apply. You never know, they might call you for an interview. In that case, I would think about what skills you have that you might be able to apply to managing an apartment complex. If you can, find someone who does this job and talk to them, they might be able to help you figure out how you can best describe your experiences in a way that will be attractive to the employer.|||No, don%26#039;t fudge your resume, but if you truly believe you can do this job, then, just sell yourself in your cover letter, not your resume. And you better be able to back it up. Good Luck|||WELL, YOU CAN SAY THAT SHE HAS MUCH EXPERIENCE IN EMBEZZLING RESUMES....|||You can apply and hope for an interview and shine there. It is doubtful that you will obtain an interview without the experience. It is listed for a reason.|||It might only end up in embarrassment or being fired if you lie on an application, or your resume.|||I would fudge my resume if I think I can really pull it off once I%26#039;m hired.

When should I start looking for a job for after graduation?

I%26#039;ll be starting my senior year of college in a month. My major is communications/public relations. I want to be sure to have a job as soon after graduation as possible.|||Go to your college Career Center and do research, ask lots of questions, start on your resume and a plan for marketing yourself - NOW. College Career Centers have many resources and resource people. Also look for Career Fairs...they are usually listed in your local newspapers, notices on bulletin boards as well as career centers. Most of all START NOW! Best wishes in your future endeavors.|||then start looking before you graduate or all the good jobs will already be filled!!!|||Right now. Send your resume` to as many radio and television stations as you can. Don%26#039;t forget the major large corporate broadcasters like Clearchanel, and Citadel.

Good luck.|||go to your college%26#039;s career services office. a friend of mine did an internship her final semester and they hired her full-time after she graduated. she%26#039;s out in new jersey making more money than some of my professors and she hasn%26#039;t even be out of school for a year.|||Check with your college%26#039;s career placement center. Also, if there is an alumni club, start networking and talking with them. Go to career fairs and there%26#039;s always Monster, the classifieds, etc.|||a good idea is to see if your college has a co-op or intern or new grad program where companies come by to hire students and possibly offer a job to new graduates. This gets you foot in the door and gain good experience.|||January is good.

How hard is it to get a job as a Pharmacy Tech when you first start?

I will be getting my certificate as a pharmacy Tech in six weeks. How hard will it be to get a job in the field. Please only answer if you know what you are talking about.|||Did you obtain a state license or did you pass the PTCB exam (or both)? For me, it was extremely difficult. I had to volunteer for 2 months at a hospital in order to obtain employment at that same hospital as a full-time CPhT (I did not want to work as a retail tech. Nothing wrong with working in retail. It%26#039;s just not my cup of tea.)

I would apply at retail pharmacies IN PERSON. Don%26#039;t do it online. You will not get any where with that. Visit the human resources departments in hospitals and complete an application there. Make sure to bring your resume, references and also copies of your license and PTCB certificate.

Good luck|||Currently, there is a glut of pharm techs. You may not get even a part time job until August. In Illinois, you don%26#039;t need to be certified immediately to be a pharm tech. All you need is to be 16 years old, have a clean criminal record, and have $40. Most of the local pharmacies will train you. Walgreens has its own PTCB training program. Apply today for a pharm tech job and try and get the phone number for the tech trainer/supervisor.|||I%26#039;d say its largely dependent on where you live, what the demand for those workers are, and how many schools are in that area that offer it.

My bf%26#039;s brother%26#039;s wife is a pharm tech. However because there is a lot of colleges around there that all offer pharm tech, and its a relatively small place, the area is crowded with unemployed pharm techs.

Your school might be able to help you land a job.|||Depends on the demand in your area, mostly. And often times there is a decent level of demand. I work with a lady that hires for our pharmacy and I know that the types of stuff she asks in interviews determines who she hires, and there are many people who apply that do not have the certification. You having the certification should increase your chances greatly.|||not hard.

How do I get my first time job without any work experiece?

I have no work history nor volunteered for anything. I%26#039;ve been applying to several different places more than once and been to 4 interviews. I%26#039;ve tried to dress professional when putting in applications just in case there was an on the spot interview. I%26#039;ve been at this for 2 years now. I still can%26#039;t get a job.|||apply for an internship, work for free, gain some experience, and then use this experience to apply for a well-payed job.|||maybe you should do some volunteer work on weekends. i had the same problem. i just gave up|||You didn%26#039;t mention how old you are. Assuming you are 18, I have a great career that might interest you. I work from home for a great company. They offer 401k, benefits and full training and support, so no experience necessary, just ambition. If you are the kind of person who enjoys helping others, it could be a great fit for you. I really enjoy what I do and I would be happy to share more information.|||You could try working from home.Check this site out http://www.pcworkathome.net|||you are screwed...

you have to either-----

know someone who%26#039;ll put in a word for you and get an interview or

offer to volunteer and work your way out of the cellar........sorry if this is blunt. ive been there and know.

good luck and dont take no for an answer

How soon should i start looking for job, and apartment?

How soon should i start looking for job as medical biller? when should start looking for apartment in new york city/manhattan? im planning on starting at CUNY Hunter in summer?where would you advice i look for apartment? around what area i mean? and any suggestions on where i should search. Thank you|||I dont know the area :-) BUT I know the sooner you are prepared the better, finding an apartment and having a pre arrangement on your move in date can save a lot of headache and hassle, not to mention last minute scrambling.

And the job, same thing depending on what you plan on doing during school. If just part time you can usually find something quick and easy, again depending on what you plan on doing for work. But never hurts if you can find an employer who knows when you are coming and is willing to offer you a position when you arrive.

Good luck!

What is the right answers during a job interview?

I have an upcoming job interview for an asst managers position at a retail store and want to ace the interview by answering questions correctly. What type of questions will be asked and what should my answers be.|||Research the company first and learn what they do best and where they are going, then in the interview, ask them questions... If you take that much interest in their company to know their current affairs, they will usually take notice of you.|||You%26#039;ll probably get behavioral questions such as:

1) Tell me about a time you worked on a team to solve a problem.

2) Tell me about a time you had to work with an uncooperative team member to solve a problem.

3) What is your greatest weakness?

For more information including how to answer. See the Harvard link I left below.|||Just remember it is all about %26quot;them%26quot; and not you.

The customer is who you are trying to please in such a job as well as corporate. It is all about Sales.....|||A general rule: What you have done--your experience and achievements--is better than what you PROMISE to do.

How does one go about getting a job in a foreign country?

I%26#039;m going to take a year off after I get my undergraduate degree and I really want to move to Italy and learn Italian. What process should I follow in order to get a job there? Is teaching English my best bet? I really just want something to pay the rent, food and shoe bills, not a career or anything, as I%26#039;m planning on going to medical school when I return to the states. Also, I need a visa, correct? Or is it something else that I%26#039;d need?|||Whether or not you need a visa depends on your nationality. If you don%26#039;t have EU citizenship, then you will need a visa. VERY FEW companies are interested in sponsoring US / Canadian / Australian workers in entry-level jobs because they can fill those positions locally without the extra paperwork. The type of companies who will employ you illegally are the type of companies who probably won%26#039;t pay you your full salary (and there%26#039;s nobody you can complain to because you%26#039;re working illegally).

Your best bets are teaching English or working in a bar (especially Irish pubs, where they like having English-speaking staff). To teach English you will definitely need an undergraduate degree and a four-week, full-time TEFL certificate that included supervised teaching practice. In Europe, the CELTA is the most well-respected (see link). You can do the course in Italy or at home, but I suggest doing it overseas so you can look for work during the course. It is really difficult to find an apartment if you don%26#039;t speak any Italian, so I suggest you take some conversation classes before you go, and invest in a self-study book.

You can enter Italy on a tourist visa, and use your %26quot;tourist%26quot; time to complete the TEFL course and find employment. I HIGHLY suggest you find legal work because if your employer does anything unsavoury it is SO important to have legal ground. Once you%26#039;ve found a job, your employer can complete their paperwork for your work visa, and you can do your paperwork for the permesso di soggiorno / residenzia / codice fiscale, etc. Obviously, never tell your employer that you%26#039;re going to leave after a year or nobody will invest in a visa for you. Bureaucracy is amazing in Italy, and it will probably take (in total... spread out between each item) about four full days just to submit all your paperwork that will allow you to work legally. You really need the support of your employer get it all done, so get a guarantee from them before you commit to working.|||Which country you want to goto and what kind of job are you looking for?|||Check with your college, just as there are study abroad programs, there are work abroad programs. It will give you more options to choose from plus you will get some help in screening the offers %26amp; getting visa%26#039;s and any other stuff you may need.|||well u need a visa but don%26#039;t think that teaching English is going to work

more likely to get bar/restaurant work in Italy

also picking fruit is good fun but hard work.

enjoy|||ok..learn italian before you go..then try phoning a job bureux in italy

What is the effect of taxation on job creation and economic growth?

It is often said (particularly by politicians) that tax cuts stimulate job creation and economic growth. How economically sound is this idea? I%26#039;m looking for any peer-reviewed academic sources that either support or refute this view. Please supply references.|||Theoretically it should be broadly neutral, because a tax cut transfers income from government to consumers without adding to or subtracting from national income. In practice though, bear in mind that (a) some govt expenditure is labour intensive (warships are not, but education and some of healthcare is) (b) in many countries, consumer expenditure is more import-intensive than govt expenditure so the job benefit leaks abroad.|||In macroeconomics texbooks, you can see that the IS-LM framework is in line with what you said. Any tax cuts or increase in government spendings that make the IS curve shift outward, causes a rise in GDP. An economy which grows creates jobs. The logic behind this theory explained in the texbooks, can be explained as follows: A corporate tax cut increases the profitability of companies which may grow more easily and demand more labor. The tax cut on individuals may increase the disposable income of households, which will raise their consumption, and again increase firms%26#039; profitability and labor demand.

How difficult it is to get a job in America for a foreigner?

I am moving to the U.S soon and want to start working asap. I worked in India in Customer Serv field. I am looking for an office assistant%26#039;s job. What skills do I need to have and how much do they pay?|||EXCELLENT ENGLISH. Usually starts around $24k a year + benefits like health insurance. Lots of unemployment last few years so it will be tough with or without college education. Now if you wanted to work in meatpacking you could EASILY get a job making $30k a year +benefits and english skills aren%26#039;t required. What are you making now in India?|||Very easy. All you have to be is non American to get a job here. Also you must be willing to work for nothing.|||By moving to America, do you mean legal immigration? If yes, then finding work is possible (not easy but not extremely difficult either). English is the medium of instruction in India, right? --- so there should be no language problem.

I strongly suggest you contact the Indian Consulate Office as soon as you arrive. They should be able to provide info on organizations of Indian nationals who could help you in the transition period.

GOOD LUCK!

What is a contingency offer for a job?

I have applied for a job, and if I am still interested in it, the company will send my application to a Recruitment Manager who will then send me a Contingency Offer. I need to know what this means before I reply with my questions, and I%26#039;ve been searching online. Thank you for your answers.|||A contingency offer is simply an offer with conditions set . In some cases it may be they are waiting on funding or other management approval to actually add staff . In some cases you may be offered the job and you keep it only after successfully completeing some training.

You are not committing to take the job by proceding. Its entirely reasonable for you to examine any offers and suggest an alternative if the conditions dont suit you .

It is sometimes done by staffing agencies that try to lock you in to them before getting the client to commit to hiring their services .|||A contingency offer is simply an offer that hinges on something like a drug test, background check, or some other %26quot;contingency%26quot;.

It isn%26#039;t uncommon anymore. You can feel free to answer any legal questions.

Hope this helps. You can email me at mike@directyourcareer.com or check my free blog at the same address.

How do I find an Investment Banking job without prior experience?

I am currently working for a big CPA firm. I have two years of experiences. I am looking to make a switch to Financing, particular Investment Banking. I have been searching for an associate position at many of the IB firms, but all of them seem to require an MBA or IB experience. Due to this reason I am planning to apply to business school. Is it possible for me to find a IB or equity research job without prior experiences or an MBA? If so, how?|||In today%26#039;s America fat chance. I know people with MBAs from decent schools working as tellers. The late-90s are no more.|||You have very little chance. There are too many people with MBA%26#039;s and IB experience that will be after the same jobs. You might be able to work at a bank that also has a IB. Then in a couple of years do an internal transfer. Even an MBA might not get you in. One from a good school helps, but there are no guarantees.|||I recommend you try to find an internship with a smaller bank. Getting into a bulge bracket firm will be tough, but if you can find a way to get in front of a smaller bank, they may be able to offer you an internship. You need to go out and network and meet as many bankers as possible. You have to sell yourself on being enthusiastic and a go-getter. It will also help if you went to a good school, but that is less important at smaller investment banks.

What kind of job would suit a person with a disability like arthritis?

My Dad is settled in USA, and he suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis. Can anyone suggest me a job which he can take up, which he can do, without too much of physical work? He is well educated and was a teacher in India, but he is waiting for his certificates to get to USA, to apply for teaching positions. In the mean time, I would like to suggest him a job, which would not take too much of physical troubles, at the same time which does not need much education. He does not mind working for the minimum salary in USA. Please help me.|||I%26#039;m confused about the being well educated and then looking for a job that doesn%26#039;t require much education. I say this because I thought he could tutor students. How%26#039;s his English? He can proofread. Many colleges teach classes in Hinduism and other religions and cultural things that originated in India, also languages, Hindi and even Sanskrit. Good luck to you both.

How do I go about fitting another job in my work schedule that i now have?

I have a job as being a assistant manager, and I had another store call me for a posistion as a sales associate, but my hours were I already work are flexible. How can I work another job? My job now is first, so if I got another job how can I fit it inm my work schedule now with my hours not being set stable?|||Yes, try to have your set shift as early as possible.|||Set one as a priority, you assistant manager job. Let the part time job know this. Then, as soon as you get your schedule for you primary job, give it to the part time job to schedule around.

What are some websites that feature legitimate work from home job listings?

I%26#039;m looking for a job that I can do either as a full-time employee or independent contractor from home. Unfortunately, the majority of the listings I see of work from home jobs are scams (stuffing envelopes, etc). I need something that is serious, professional, and that can earn me a decent salary.|||WelI I actually take surveys for cash. And yes they do pay as long as you know the good ones. I have some free survey sites that are very reliable just check out my profile by clicking my name or email me for them. I only give sites that I%26#039;ve been paid by so you won%26#039;t get scammed. They%26#039;re all reliable and I%26#039;ve never had a problem with them. (I%26#039;ve been doing them for a year now) The best part is that anyone can do them and they%26#039;re easy. You won%26#039;t get rich but they definitely help with bills :)|||Depending on your background, you could consider medical transcription, coding or billing. I was a medical transcriptionist working from home.

Many transcriptionists get their training through a course of study while others carry their medical terminology knowledge with them from other health related fields. You would need to get the terminology down, and then get started. Many companies want experience so there%26#039;s a catch-22. However, doctors and hospitals may be hiring, and after a time you can work from home as many transcriptionists do.

Like for a company like IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, etc. They still work long hours, but nothing like bankers. Of course the pay is not as predictable as a banker%26#039;s pay, either. But it%26#039;s the closest trade-off that I can see. Not including the one-offs like private equity, vc, etc. where the hours can depend largely upon the firm.|||You can become involved in an out of home business, which is rapidly becoming the best weay to earn money. If his duties are general, such as assisting the VP, an appropriate title would be Assistant VP of Corporate Affair.

If, on the other hand, his duties are specific, then a good title is Director of (whatever).

I have always wanted to work in the media sector as a producer/journalist/director etc... I find it is an interesting job and i was making a choice whether to pursue a mass comm degree. I have a job at the moment that gives me 30 hours a week. It isn%26#039;t possible for me to get any more hours at this job and I want some more money for the summer to make rent a little easier to make and to have some fun. What is a good second job for only 10 hours to 20 hours a week?|||Retail and restaurant jobs often have more flexible hours, and often need extra staff on the weekends. The pay isn%26#039;t great, but you can probably find something to meet your needs in terms of hours.

For something that pays a little better, is there a subject you can tutor? Lots of high school students want SAT tutoring over the summer, and the going rate in my area is $50 an hour. If you can find just a few students, you could cash in.|||I have spa parties in my home and others. I generally sell about $250-$450 at each party with 8-10 guests. I make a 50% profit. That%26#039;s $125-$225 each party. They take about 2 1/2 hours, 1/2 to set-up and then clean up and about two hours talking and demonstrating. How do you decline a job offer from a friend?

I was offered a job at my friends work doing the same exact job I am doing now at my current place. I feel it would be just a waste to switch for the same job, same salary, and frankly lesser benefits. However, my friend and her boss are really excited at the thought of me coming to their place of work and I get a sense that if I decline I will hurt my friend%26#039;s feelings badly. How do I go about stating a decline to the offer in a friendly way?|||I always tell people - don%26#039;t work with friends or spouses, only leads to trouble. It appears that your friend is only an employee at this other company so I would just explain that you are happy where you are and that a lateral move with decreased benefits is not a good move. You should be striving to get ahead.|||If it hurts their feelings, they%26#039;re not really a friend.|||I would straight up tell him what you posted here in a nice way. Say that you appreciate the offer, but you are going to continue at your current place and arent switching because of the reasons you listed. Since he is a friend he should understand.|||Not only do you have three considerations that are: %26quot;the same%26quot;, %26quot;the same%26quot; and %26quot;lesser%26quot;; there are two more that will, in effect, disappear. Has her boss mentioned how he will reconcile your insurance and seniority?

Are they willing to waive the standard waiting period for insurance? (Notice I used the word standard, not mandatory.) Because so many variables are directly associated with the date of hire, it is doubtful your new supervisor would be able to effectively compensate for your loss of seniority.

The only implied advantage would be the possibility of promotion. How difficult would it be for both of you to compete head to head and lose? Why take a chance? Thank your friend for the compliment and take here to dinner. Good Luck.

Is it more difficult to find a job in between Thanksgiving and New Years?

I am currently working a %26quot;bridge job%26quot; as I decided what I want to do next in my career. I%26#039;ve made up my mind that I want to get into market research and am ready to quit my current job so I can focus on my job search; however, I wonder if I should wait until after the first of the year given the holidays.

I want to quit my job and get moving with my career but don%26#039;t want to do anything ill-advised. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.|||The market research field is a good choice. Actually, I am currently job searching trying to find a job in that field myself. For me personally, I see jobs in that field are drying up a lot right now. There were much more opportunities during the summer.

From my experience, companies tend not to hire from Thanksgiving to New Years and might even cut back on their workforce. It is sad to say, but I think you have until mid-November to find a job otherwise the openings will be few and far between. I would start searching immediately. The market does not pick up until about March.|||That time of year, the hiring managers are usually away and take long vacations. I say wait until the brand new year to apply and good luck.|||If you can possibly hold out, wait until about March. Between the holidays, changes just don%26#039;t happen....|||Most companies do not hire at the end of the year. Retail is a major exception, because of the Christmas shopping season.|||Most Human Resources departments are busy organizing Xmas parties and doing all of the other useless crap that they like doing at that time of the year.|||Hiring usually slows down around the end of the year. The new year companies have budgets for their physical year and tend to hire newer people to fill opened positions. Wait until January to apply.

What is a legit work at home job nationwide or in the Philadelphia region?

I work in the travel industry with inconsistant hours, I love the job but I%26#039;m struggling to pay the bills. Any Ideas?|||I can share with you how I make extra money part time and feel free to email me through Yahoo Answers, if you have any questions on what I do to make money at home, maybe what I do will be of benefit to you:

I have a website and a blog that makes me money, I just designed a website about something I know about and the blog is related to my website. This took me the most amount of effort and time but started paying for themselves after about three months. Maybe you can have a tutorial blog about the travel industry?

I sell stuff on the Internet, basically I sold unwanted stuff that were around the house or I go to yard sales, flea markets, discount bins at my local stores, buy things from family and friends and resell the items on the Internet. I sell small items on a international %26quot;auction site%26quot; (EBay) and larger items at a local %26quot;auction site.

I also make a little extra money by doing simple things like %26quot;reading emails%26quot;, I spend about an hour a night doing this to make extra pocket change.

Do graphic designers who have a fulltime job have to pay a business tax if they do a few freelance projects?

I%26#039;m a graphic designer with a fulltime job and on occasion pick up some freelance projects. I have not done any freelance work in 2007 but did a bout 3 projects in 2006. I recently got a letter saying that I owe a business tax. Am I required to pay this eventhough I don%26#039;t really have a business?|||But you do have a business. It might not be full time, but since you are doing freelance jobs, that%26#039;s having a business and you owe tax on the income.|||You need to add a lot more detail if you want an answer that has any meaning.

Who told you that you owed a business tax? The IRS, or a city entity? Many cities call the license fee and business tax, so is this what you are asking about?

Also, keep in mind, that you owe not only federal, state and possibly local taxes on the money from the freelance projects, but also both the employer and employee side of SS and FICA taxes. Since you will be treated as self employed with respect to the freelance work. (Check for any special rules with regard to the SS and FICA if your total income for all sources is large enough to require special handling.)

What questions should I ask at a job interview for a healthcare recruiter position?

I have an interview tomorrow with a healthcare recruiting firm and I want to have a few good questions to ask about the job/industry, but it will be a new field for me and I%26#039;m not sure what to ask about. Any suggestions?|||1) How is the compensation structured? Is it hourly or based on the number of positioned filled (sort of like commission)?

2) On average, how many open positions are there that need to be filed on a weekly bases? Is there a quota for the number of openings that recruiter must fill?

3) Does this firm have any exclusive contracts with hospital systems and/or medical practices or does the firm rely on a %26quot;Sales Force%26quot; to identify needs that need to be filled?

4) What makes this Healthcare Recruiting Firm better then the others that are in the industry? or Why should I except a job at this firm as opposed to the guys down the street? (Remember, in an interview, you are also evaluating the employer and deciding if you WANT to work there)

5) Does the recruiter also conduct the background checks/reference checks/credential verifications or is there a support staff that perform these duties?

6) Does this firm also set-up the pre-employment drug screening or does the healthcare facility handle this?

7) Does this firm represent the employer or candidate? Who is the customer, the job seeker or the company looking to fill their staffing needs?

8) What are the documentation disclosure requirements of the firm to the employer? Do I need to be prepared to provide my interview notes to an employer upon request?

How do you look for a new job without your current boss finding out?

My husband%26#039;s boss told him that if he doesn%26#039;t acheive certain goals by next month he will be fired. After he said that, the account sent an email saying my husband was not at fault, and the numbers came up wrong because of accounting errors. His boss still stands by what he said. Now my husband feels like he needs to start looking for a new job, because he almost got fired for someone elses mistake, but if he posts his resume online and his boss sees it, he%26#039;ll fire him for sure. What can he do?|||If her has pto time or sick time have him take it.....that will give him time to do his job hunting in person.|||Get together his CV and find a good recruitment agency that way it can be kept confidential|||Sign up with a reputable job agency in your town. They will try and do the hard work of job searching in their client list and hopefully come up with something.

There will be interviews to attend of course, but this is where you have several dentist appointments scheduled (as far as his boss is concerned).|||No your husband needs to go above his bosses head to that guys boss and show the findings from the mistake, So basicly his boss will get a kick to the rear he deserves for making your husband feel bad for the mistake. I have a boss like that too and on several occasions ive had to almost literally shove the evidence in her face to get her to take her words back. But I dont I let my GM step in and I take a few and calm down. But if he still feels like doing what I suggested wont work, Try, Snagajob.com, careerbuilder.com, monster.com, and DONT HIDE IT. Just because your husband has his resume up his boss shouldnt fire him. Thats really stupid if it happens and that person shouldnt be a supervisor. But this is just one persons opinion. Good luck to your husband I hope it works out for the best for you all.

What does it mean when after a job interview they cancel your ride to the airport?

OK, it%26#039;s a long history so let%26#039;s be short. I had a job interview and they picked me up in the airport and took me to my hotel. Next day I had my interview and had a %26quot;stroll%26quot; for all the offices and instalations of the company. Next day they were supposed to give me a ride to the airport but in the night after the interview they called me telling me that they canceled the ride they originally offered me to the airport. What happened and what does it mean?|||Either you failed so miserably they don%26#039;t want to put any more money into you, or you wowed them so well they can%26#039;t let you leave.

Seems strange, though|||Wasn%26#039;t there some kind of an explanation? You mean, they just left you there to fend for yourself? Did you have to find your own way back home? Need more info.|||Did the person who called you to tell you they had cancelled the interview explain why they did that? Did they make other arrangements or did the hotel have a shuttle service to the airport so the company felt that making separate arrangements was not necessary? Did they cancel your return flight?

I would call the H.R. department or the person you interviewed with and ask them why this happened and what is your status if this was not explained to you.

What kind of job can I get with a BA in Social Sciences and Literature?

I just graduated with my undergrad and am looking for a job. I am going back for my Master%26#039;s in the Fall, but am looking for a job now.

I need to make upwards of $13 an hour to cover daycare costs. I don%26#039;t have much work history, I was a server, hostess and bartender 7 years ago (8yrs experience) and have worked in a daycare and as a nanny for the past 6 years.

I%26#039;m looking for something that would be first shift, and I need some ideas. Any suggestions?|||For a laugh, I will tell you to practice this phrase, %26quot;would you like fries with that?%26quot;

Seriously, it looks like you have some varied background with interpersonal skills. the fact you have completed a degree program is excellent. I suggest you look to get on in a human resource department of a company until you continue your studies.|||I am a teacher, and I wish you all the luck in the world. Report Abuse

In an entry-level position you can expect to get experience with project managment, data analysis, and possibly questionnaire writing (which ties in with social sciences nicely). Depending on the market, salaries start at around $30K.|||A BS in what?|||You can be a teacher of those subjects or work in a store or bar. How in the world did you happen to choose those majors? Perhaps you should conisder a change?|||a collage teacher or a scientist|||Good luck! I can%26#039;t think of anyplace that will give you $13 an hour with your limited experience. How old is your child? Is the father at home? Why can%26#039;t he watch the kid while you%26#039;re at work? If you really need a job, just get one and look for a reasonable babysitter.|||how do you have a BA in Social Sciences and Literature and dont know which job to get?|||Bar tender, waitress, maybe a store manager.

I agree with the other posts here. Just about any degree in anything %26quot;artsy%26quot; is going to get you know where unless you did a lot of planning. Unless you have a specific job picked out and are already a good way in, I would switch class%26#039;s before you owe more in school than you will ever make in a lifetime.

How difficult is it to get a job like this?

I%26#039;m looking for some inspiration for my fiance as far as a job goes. He has no idea what he wants to do for a career. Right now, he%26#039;s been working as a dishwasher / prep cook (for a few years now) and absolutely hates it! Gaming is his biggest hobby, he can%26#039;t stand math or repetitive, boring jobs. He has a High School diploma, but no college degree.

Any ideas for something he should look for? We were thinking about tech support, customer service, or something along those lines, as he%26#039;s the friendliest person I know and has amazing social skills. Is getting a job like this hard to get for someone without a college degree or much experience though?

Something that makes good money as well, of course. We%26#039;ve both been working in random %26quot;just-above-minimum-wage%26quot; jobs, so we don%26#039;t really know what to look for, what%26#039;s hard to get/not hard to get, etcetera. So any help, ideas or advice would be much appreciated.|||What about restaurant management? They make good money.|||If he really has good social skills, he should look for a job as a waiter. My friend%26#039;s brother was a waiter while going to college and he said that he would make around $100 a day because of the amount of tips that he would get.|||If your fiance is interested in working from home, many reputed companies like Liveops,AlpineAccess, Workathomeagent employ home based callers to answer phone calls for them. How long does a person have to be on a job to purchase a home?

I am starting a new job soon. I was on my prior job for almost 4 years. Will this prevent me from being eligible for a home mortgage?|||As anytime that you have a question regarding qualifying for a mortgage, IT DEPENDS. It depend on a multitude of factors. But to make things simple, there are the basic 3 C%26#039;s of mortgage lending.

Credit- pretty easy to understand, but generally looking at the credit score but if there is insufficient credit, derogatory or other adverse things, then they will be taken into account.

Capacity- In other words income or your ability to repay. It takes into account how much is coming in verses how would be going out

Collateral- The home: type, location, how much would be borrowed verses what its worth etc..

Back to the question about job history. You can get a home without having a job at all as long as some of these other factors fall into place. However, you would not qualify for as good of a rate as a person with job history. It is also correct that if you have just changed jobs but are still in the same industry, it is if you have been there all along.

Hope this helps, send if you have any additional questions.|||Usually a year, but if you have a large down payment they will excuse your lack of employment.|||In general you should be on the job for 2 years, it can be in the same field so it doesn%26#039;t have to be with one company. You should try to get approved for a home loan at http://www.nationwidebillrelief.com/home...|||your employment history is ok even though they are combined.....what they are looking for is solid employment, good credit history and your income is considered and ability to pay loan payments and other bills....|||6 months|||possibly|||I had worked for a mortgage company and they required that a person be on a job for 2 years, or if they had changed jobs it was the same or similar type of work that they were doing. There are other types of qualifications that have to be met, If you have bank and tax statements to prove your income, you don%26#039;t have credit problems then you can probably discuss the job stuff with them and they might work with you.|||It depends on how much you make and if you have enough down payment. Normally, you can do it without waiting because you continue working, plus they will check your credit. If you have a good credit, you should be fine the mintue you start working. I don%26#039;t think you are not eligible for a home mortgage in short time working for one job.

However, if you just started a job, then you may have to wait at least 3-6 months depending on the mortgage company.|||preferably 2 years.|||If you%26#039;re new job is a similar career they will consider you as being on the job for the four years prior. What%26#039;s almost as important is your credit report and score.|||I wouldn%26#039;t think so. It sounds like you have a good work history and really what the bank likes to see is no bad debt and ability to save as well as stability. My advice would be to apply 6 months in from the start of the new job. Banks love to give out money as long as you have the funds to be able to pay it back I mean shite they%26#039;ll just repossess the house if they can%26#039;t get their money!!!!! ALL BANKS ARE BASTARDS!!! That%26#039;s tongue in cheek!!! But at the end of the day its all business and i have found if you get into problems go see the bank straight away rather than waiting for things to hit the wall. Just do the research and get the knowledge and don%26#039;t be scared to ask for what you want just have a good plan. I wish you the best of luck.|||just to say, having a new job will have to be at least 6-12 months, you also have a chance because you were at your previous for as long as you say.and residenscy also counts

I have a job interview at Best Buy tomorrow afternoon do you think that requires a resume and dressing up?

I have a job interview tomorrow at Best Buy, this will be my first job interview. Do you think I should bring a resume and also should I dress up?|||Dress nicely, show up 10 minutes early, and look the person who is interviewing you right in the eye. Also smile a lot! You do not need a resume. Especially since this is your first job you wouldn%26#039;t have any work experience to put on it.

Be ready to answer the following questions:

Why do you want to work here?

What is your availability (know your school schedule and other commitments)?

Do you have any special skills?

How many hours a week can you work?

Those are all pretty basic and will be asked at any interview! GOOD LUCK!|||I am SOOOO happy you got the job!! Congrats!! Thats AWESOME!!! Report Abuse

|||dress nice. so that way u give them a great impression! and im not realyl sure about a resume.. sorry|||you shud definetly do both it shows you are responsible and you want the job i made the mistake once not dressing or having a resume and they commented on it straight away even though it was for McDonalds i dint get the job|||It is always good to have a resume no matter where you are trying to get a job. You should always at least where some sort of dress slack and a polo. awww.. good luck I hope you get it!!|||I LOVE BEST BUY|||Dress for the type of store your trying to go with.Clean clothes, nothing tight, reveling or Men%26#039;s

clothes.NO cleavage. You will be ask to fill out a

app.|||I worked at Best Buy when I was younger. You definitely don%26#039;t need a resume. I would dress decent, not too casual, but you definitely don%26#039;t need to overdo it. I had my lip pierced at the time and still got the job.|||i don%26#039;t think you need a resume but yes i would dress up more then just jeans and a t-shirt|||To make the best impression, have a resume and dress one step up from what the job requires. Think of it this way, you want them to think that you%26#039;d be qualified to move up. So dress for the part.

Both will help you differentiate yourself.|||You don%26#039;t need a resume, but dress nicely - nice pants, shirt and tie and sweater would be OK.|||Def. dress up a resume may not be required but looks good if you have a simple one put together.|||I over dressed, once, for an interview.

You should know how they dress.

I would think business casual. A tie if male.|||definetly dress up , not skanky though , dont give bad vibes . just remember %26quot; first impressions %26quot; . a resume would be good if youve ever done any thing like the position you applying for , other wise it would be pointless . good luck .|||always helps to look nice.

im sure bestbuy doesn%26#039;t require a 3 piece suit but a nice pair of khakis and a good shirt would do.

and a resume helps. it doesnt have to be professional, maybe to just past work experiences and references.|||No, don%26#039;t dress up all fancy, bring a resume.|||Hello Andrew!

YES, absolutely dress in a suit, if at all possible. If you don%26#039;t have a suit, then wear a nice shirt and tie with some nice slacks and shoes. If you go into any job interview, (no matter how big or small you may think the job might be) dressed professionally, it will make a really good impression upon the personell department and possible future co-workers and bosses.

Definitely put a resume together. Organizing a good history of what experience you%26#039;ve had through previous jobs, schooling or other training, volunteering you may have done for the community and even sports experience (which can really show %26quot;TEAM%26quot; experience) helps tremendously. The interviewer will be able to take a glimpse into the type of person you are, your work ethic, your experience and your integrity.

Always include both personal and non-personal references too. I know they ask for these types of things in the regular application, but it%26#039;s also good to include refrences on your resume as well.

The interviewer and potential bosses can contact your references and find out what kind of person you are on an even more personal or moral level.

So it%26#039;s good to name 3 personal references. Such as family members or close friends. Then 3 non personal refrences, like previous bosses in previous jobs, if you%26#039;re fresh out of high school or college, have a good teacher or school official who knows you be a refrence or any coaches.

I hope this helps and certainly hope the interview goes well!

Good luck :)|||hey it couldnt hurt!!! it would probably be really impressive!!! good luck|||Couldn%26#039;t hurt. Might help, so why not?|||always be as professional as possible.|||you should have a resume because it shows how you have done with past jobs and do dress, it%26#039;s respectable and they will get a good idea about you.|||Did you submit a resume when you were applying? If not, it is a good idea to bring it. That shows your potential employer that you are dedicated. Dress respectively. No jeans. Also, put your glasses on, if you have them. Studies show that most people get jobs who wear glasses. Be confident in what you say. You can do it. Good luck!|||If you were going to give a resume, that should have been attached to your application (unless you are giving them the application when you have your interview). Also, unless it%26#039;s a management position (which I doubt, if this is your first interview), a resume really isn%26#039;t necessary. As far as dressing up, I would go with dress casual. Maybe a pair of khaki slacks and a nice button-down shirt. I don%26#039;t think a suit or anything like that is really necessary (unless it is a management or other upper level position). DO NOT wear jeans and a T-shirt.|||Not to say its a bad company. I know people are treated like dirt at Best Buy during the holiday season. No breaks %26amp; over worked.

Unless your doing floor sales.|||Yes put your best foot forward... be proud of yourself and represent yourself well if you don%26#039;t who will. Even though it%26#039;s your first interview it is practice for bigger and better jobs down the road so do not practice to fail.|||Absolutely!|||I wouldn%26#039;t wear a suit--but, would wear a nice shirt and khaki pants. Unless you are going for a management position, I don%26#039;t think you will need a tie. The morst important thing is that you look neat and tidy.

Bring your resume%26#039;. See how the interview goes and ask the person if he/she would like a copy of your resume%26#039;. Most likely your application will serve the purpose--but, just in case---I would bring the resume%26#039;.

Good luck!!|||yes yes , every interview includes dressing up|||i don%26#039;t think you have to worry about it. i don%26#039;t think you%26#039;ll get the job. you put this under food service. but anyway i got a job at target when i was wearing shorts flipflops and and a tanktop.

What should be my answer to the question for reason of leaving the job ?

Actually I am going to face the biggest interview in my life day after, I have changed four jobs in last six year. If interviewer will ask about the reason for leaving present job, What should be my answer that will satisfy him perfectly.

I would also like to inform you that interview is for my dream job.

Thanking you all in anticipation.|||Be as honest and upfront during the interview as you can. If you answer too vaguely, it%26#039;s going to come across like you%26#039;re hiding something.|||try to shone the nicest light on the truth if you quit voluntarily i wouldnt worry about it 4 jobs in 6 years isnt bad considering the job market in this day and again i would be more focused on what you have to offer show your excitement and ambition towards this %26quot;dream job%26quot; focus on your positive attributes. and never say um um or like good luck|||The truth!

When you first graduate from flight school, is it hard to find a job as a pilot?

Is it hard to find jobs for pilots?

how much do you get paid when you first start?

Are the jobs good or are they bad?

How long does it take before one is considered for a job as an airline pilot?|||Because you need experience. don%26#039;t give up. Fly as much as you can and get as many hours as you can. Think long term. Also - commercial and instrument ratings are a plus. Being a good commercial pilot takes time and patience.|||The types of jobs one qualifies for in the USA with a fresh commercial certificate are:

banner tow

skydive pilot

pipeline patrol

fish spotting

traffic watch

flight instructor (with the additonal CFI certificate)

%26quot;Is it hard to find jobs for pilots?%26quot;

That all depends on where you are. In some areas of the country, opportunities are slim. The competition for time %26amp; experience building jobs is fierce. This is why most pilots go the flight instruction route, at the very least they can create their own business. Plus, the flight school that train CFZIs often take them on staff once they have their CFI.

Additionally, a new commercial pilot with only 250 hours may not qualify for some of the above jobs as the operators insurance carrier rmay require more fight experience for them to be on staff.

%26quot;How much do you get paid when you first start?%26quot;

Very little. Skydive pilots may make as little as $5 per flight or CFIs $1,000/mo. Often, the more experience you have instructing, the better you get paid as a CFI.

%26quot;Are the jobs good or are they bad?%26quot;

Both. They are what you make of it. Even a %26quot;bad%26quot; job can be fun. My years of flying skydivers were very, very low paid and tghe planes were marginally maintained but at the time it was great as you are employed as a pilot.

%26quot;How long does it take before one is considered for a job as an airline pilot?%26quot;

The regionals/commuters generally require 1,000 hours of flight time with 100 of that being in multi-engine aircraft.

Read my site for more information on your questions-

http://www.geocities.com/avc8trxx99/FAQ....|||It depends on what kind of job you eventually want, what you are willing to fly at first, and how fast you want to do all of it. With more information from you, I can maybe help you a little. I have mostly flown corporate, with some flight instruction and freight, and a short fling with the airlines before getting FURLOUGHED!!!|||In Australia especially, pilot%26#039;s like me are not really in demand..I am in MI. at present, so unsure if the same applies here. Good luck :-)

What kind of job would allow me to travel 95% of the time?

I dream of a job that would send me places all the time. When I posted the question I didn%26#039;t think of a job as a flight attendant(I%26#039;m too clumsy for that) or joining the military( I%26#039;m just not military material). Thank you for your answers!|||international delivery person

writer for a travel book company

import / export|||Why do you think you are too clumsy to be a flight attendant? That%26#039;s funny- you do not have to be coordianted to be an F/A- just as long as you can learn the basics.|||Outside Sales...|||you could go to school and become an RN or OR Tech. Become a traveling nurse. They make great money. Pay for your stays. And you get to go to new places and meet new people all the time.|||pharmaceutical sales

any other type of sales - Avon, Mary Kay, Arbonne|||You could work on a cruise ship.|||Aspire to be an airline pilot, or a ships captain than it is all about travel. You could also become a translator but your business travel would be restricted to the areas where you can speak the language.

How many years job experience would make you feel "good enough" to be an expert?

Hi. I just wonder some people would feel %26quot;good enough%26quot; to do your job in order to be called as a professional only with a couple of years, on the other hand, some would say their profession needs more than ten years experience to be called the same.

How many years at least do you need to have to be called as expert on your job? Is it enough to have only a couple of years?|||Peace and respect to you my friend.

I%26#039;m an electrician and work in maintenance fields on automatic machinery and instrumentation, and it took me at least 4 years to train and become qualified, then a further 3-4 years to become proficient. When I%26#039;ve moved jobs, it takes another 1-2 years to learn the new plant and equipment to become proficient again. With new technology coming in all the time, you never really become on top because you are constantly learning new ways to do stuff. But after around 10 years into the trade, I guess you should be able to could call yourself pretty damn good and you should be earning top money with the right employer.|||This is a hard one to answer. It depends upon (as you obviously, know) the complexity of the job.

I was a supervisor in a local government office (UK) and I used to say to new staff %26#039;It%26#039;s not rocket science, but it will take you a couple of years to get the hang of everything%26#039; - the job was so varied and there was lots to learn...somethings only occurring, say once a year, for example.

It also depends on how quick you are a picking up things, and how intelligent you are at putting that knowledge into practice.

I once had an employee (with a degree) who always needed to ask how to do things...over and over and over again. Whilst others got told once/shown once...and that was it.

Sorry not to be able to give an exact answer|||I have been in catering for over 25 years. I am what i would call self taught. I went from fish %26amp; chip shops to old peoples homes, chocolate factory (bad move - my weight doubled!) to cooking in pubs and managing at a local educational establishment all with out a %26#039;professional%26#039; qualification. I have never called myself a chef until recently when i became qualified. However i do realise that there is so much to learn in the catering industry that i would still feel intimidated by a chef that had been %26#039;traditionally%26#039; trained by that i mean a hotel background. Good question.|||It depends on your capacity to learn and the job you are in - A doctor is an expert and takes a clever man many years to be be recognised as an expert in that role - a bricklayer may take fewer years but is still considered an expert.

I suppose it%26#039;s the point at which you can do that %26#039;thing%26#039; better than someone else and people are willing to accept your expertise by payment or other recognition|||in any job no matter how long you have been there.you are always learning.so to be a expert.you will have to stay in the job all your life.because every job changes.with new things ect ect|||I%26#039;m unemployed, I%26#039;d say that you%26#039;d have to learn the art of leeching to be called an expert (you know getting money from your parents.... that kinda stuff).

Hope this helped|||you need to be at least 60 to be an expert at anything!

What to wear to a legal assistant job interview?

I just graduated from college and I have my first %26quot;real world%26quot; job interview on Friday for a legal assistant position. I own a black suit, is this appropriate? If not, I would appreciate some suggestions. Also, what is an appropriate way to wear my hair? It is permed so it tends to look a little less than polished. Any interview tips you could offer would be greatly appreciated!|||a black suit is fine. i%26#039;d recommend buying a feminine blouse for underneath. the key to professional dressing is looking polished and pulled together without necessarily sacrificing femininity.

if you%26#039;re hair isn%26#039;t as polished as you like consider pulling it back, or a hair scarf or headband.|||I%26#039;d suggest a Navy skirt suit!

Make sure you wear closed shoes and stockings.

Also have your hair tied back with some make up! For a polished look.

Avoid jangly jewellry...have simple earrings and necklace.

How difficult is it to get a job with a misdemeanor on your record?

I know having a felony on your record can make job searching very difficult. But, what if it%26#039;s only a misdemeanor?|||well, sorry but you will have a long road ahead of you. Just go into it being honest and someone WILL give you a chance.|||Some applications only ask for felonies and don%26#039;t ask for misdemeanors to be listed.

-It depends on the type of job you are applying for. Banking and law enforcement jobs are very critical of any type of conviction, while a job at Starbucks or Target will be less critical, unless it involves fraud or cash handling.|||where i Work ( and I have been in the hiring) we can only ask about felonies, in fact a misdemeanor would not even come up unless you mentioned it.|||Have you ever tried getting the offense expunged? Having it expunged is better than having to explain it. I know a couple of people with misdemeanors and 1 of them doesn%26#039;t have a hard time getting a job and one does. So from that, I am going to assume that the actual offense is weighed, not the fact that it%26#039;s on your record. Hope this helps. Good luck!|||Relatively easy, except if you%26#039;re trying to get a security-sensitive job or something that needs government clearance.|||Most people have this on their record as long as it%26#039;s not a felony your job search will be pretty easy.|||Depends on what job. Non classified, non-police jobs don%26#039;t care about misdemeanors, just felonies. Frequently, misdemeanors are indicative of ignorance and mild stupidity, not criminal intent. For example, leaving your infant in a car while you go shopping is a misdemeanor in most states. Does that mean you%26#039;re bad employee? Hardly.

How effective are job fairs in helping land a job?

Husband attended a job fair two days ago and handed out /filled out applications with about 7-8 companies. What could be the outcome? I am planning to study masters in accounting from australia. What are the job prospects post completion?

I am planning to study masters in accounting from australia. I do not have any hardcore accounting background however have studied basic accounting in school and college. In addition i have over 5 years of work experience however all of it has been with the customer services industry. I am a bit sceptical about finding a job and what kind of jobs will I be able to get upon completion of this course. As this course is on the shortage occupations list in australia, my goal is to stay back in australia and work in the finance sector. What kind of jobs will I be able to get after this course and after a few years can I move towards investment banking ? Also, what other credits or subjects do I need to study to become a chartered accountant? Thanks .....|||Getting a masters in accounting is a great idea. As far as what you need to become a chartered accountant, feel free to ask one of your professors when you start classes. It%26#039;s different in every country so it%26#039;s best to check with someone who holds that position in your own country. Remember accounting isn%26#039;t just keeping the books straight, it%26#039;s also being able to help the customer or client make decisions to make their financial matters more efficient; it%26#039;s not only about helping them out with their taxes but showing them a way to minimize taxes in upcoming years legally. I do happen to know that there is a general shortage of business professors. Many older professors are retiring and there%26#039;s a big age gap among these professors. At least here in the states that shortage has led to high starting salaries for professors in business, especially in accounting, so you may want to look into whether that%26#039;s the case in Australia as well. Basically accountants have a few options, go into taxes, into auditing, consulting, the private sector, and education. Have fun and good luck with your masters.|||Accountents are almost as bad as lawyers|||In the U.S., you need a masters in accounting to sit for the CPA exam (certified public accountant). You need a total of 150 credits.

The exam is administered by states, so there isn%26#039;t one that would allow you to practice anywhere in the U.S., although many states offer reciprocity.

How do I pay taxes if I have an online job?

I will begin a job as an online administrative assistant. I will be getting paid for my services via money orders in a fixed amount each week. My question is: how do I pay taxes on this? I am handicapped and received SSI until I got married. So this is my first job so I have no idea how to file taxes or about income tax in general. Could someone please provide me with some information on what I need to do.|||Come April, you%26#039;ll need to fill out a form 1040. Keep track of everything you make this year from your job because you%26#039;ll need to report it on the form. If they send you a W-2 form, it will have all that info already. There are instructions on the 1040. I%26#039;d go into more detail but don%26#039;t have time right now. Have fun!|||Depending on how your new job operates, at the end of the year, they should send you a form, probably a W2, which you use to fill out your 1044 tax form. They may also possibly send you a 1099 form which you use when filling out a form saying you are self-employed but working for another, usually a schedule C. If they send you no form then you have to file a schedule C, saying you have your own business, and you are %26quot;contracting%26quot; this job. You have to keep track of your pay stubs, etc. and then if they have not taken taxes out of your Money orders, you have to report your earnings and pay taxes. You should ask you new employer what type of form they will send, and if they will be withholding taxes so you can better prepare. If they say they are doing no withholding, then as I said save everything, and if you don%26#039;t feel comfortable doing your own taxes, go to a tax place like H%26amp;R Block. If you think you can do it, use a computer program like Turbo Tax. It walks you through the entire process by asking questions.|||As I understood you are considered to be a self-employed person. To declare your income, therefore, you have to file schedule C along with your tax return. You will show your earned income there along with all necessary and ordinary expenses associated with your business(computer and other expenses) The difference between your income and expenses(profit) will be taxed at the special rate. There is so much that has to be done, it%26#039;s beyond the quick answer. I am a professional tax preparer, so if you would like to use my help, e-mail me please at alikmal@yahoo.com. just include %26quot;tax help needed%26quot; in the subject. Good luck with your tax filings and your new job.|||All the answers that mention W-2%26#039;s apply only to %26quot;employees%26quot;. If you were an %26quot;employee%26quot;, your employer would be required to withhold taxes from your pay. Since taxes are not withheld from you pay, whoever is paying is considering you an independent contractor, and not an employee, and will not give you a W-2.

The answer from alikmal is on the right track. After the tax year ends, you complete either a Schedule C or a Schedule C-EZ. At that time, you also complete a Schedule SE and a 1040. You pay income tax (variable rate) and self-employment tax (usually 15.3%).

Generally speaking, you are not allowed to wait until the end of the year to start paying and must send some of the money early. Use Form 1040-ES to determine how much %26quot;estimated tax%26quot; to send the IRS and when it is due.

I am looking for an IT job thats not help desk but i will take what I can get but everyone in the Baltimore/ Washington area wants 3 years min experience. What can I do to make myself be more impressive online?|||Most tech job postings will put more experience than they actually want/need to ward off any random person applying. You *should* still apply to those positions if you fit the description and skill set.

Many companies are willing to invest the time and effort into teaching and molding an employee to be what they want.

You might need to take a help desk position to get your foot in the company and work your way up from there. However, you do not have to settle for one unless you need a job now, you can hold out for what you want.|||You are right you need to stand out BUT.....On line every guy is 6%26#039;2%26quot; 200 lbs and great completion. How do I go about getting a job in the investment field?

I will be graduating from business school in one month. I majored in finance, and I would love to get into the investment field. However, I don%26#039;t want to be a financial planner. Investment banking or something like that would be good. Any ideas of how to contact companies like UBS of Morgan Stanley with hopes of getting a job? Thanks!|||My first question is this -- did you go to business school for an MBA, or for your undergrad? And did you go to one of the Magic 8 schools, assuming you are from the US (Harvard, Sloan, Chicago GSB, Stanford, Kelloggs, Wharton, Columbia, Stern)?

Good investment banks (like the ones you mentioned) usually pick from a select few B-schools that they frequent, usually from the MBA programs. Sometimes, they go for schools not necessarily because they are the best but because of proximity (which is why a lot of Wall Street firms and banks interview from smaller NY schools, compared to much better schools elsewhere, say, the mid-west).

Outside of that, it is very hard for you to get in unless you have some contacts within the banks, or have an excellent track record to prove your skills.

Usually, the best way to break into the industry from the outside is to get an internship at the place of your choice, prove yourself, and use that as leverage to get a full time job. However, since you are graduating in a month, that is no longer an option.

The other thing for you to do is to write the CFA exams -- even if you are not from the preferred list of schools, additional qualifications (such as CFA) usually go a long way.

What I would recommend, of course, is to take a job at a relatively smaller financial institution in the area (e.g. a hedge fund or PE firm) and work your way up to one of the bigger i-banks. I%26#039;ve a friend who worked at DE Shaw, went to school for computational finance and is currently employed at UBS.

I would also recommend talking to your school (since you are interested in finance, I%26#039;d recommend talking to the finance profs) and asking them if they have any contacts. A lot of finance profs have usually spent a good deal of time in the industry and tend to have contacts there.

Unless you are married to the idea of staying in the US, you could also try applying to i-banks elsewhere in the world -- usually, they are quite happy to hire an English speaking westerner in another region (e.g. China). It might be easier to break in, and would give you a good step up in the right direction.

Then, there is networking. Go to the Vault forums and ask questions, find people and talk to them. If you are in the NY area, find a local bar that i-bankers frequent, post a message on Craigslist etc.

Finally, go ahead and apply -- as long as you are well prepared and know your stuff, you may just strike gold. Besides, even if it doesn%26#039;t work out, it does not rule out you applying again, at a later time.

As far as the actual application goes, you could go ahead and apply online, but I%26#039;d also recommend talking to the i-banks themselves. Call them up, tell them that you are interested, ask questions, ask if you can meet with them, be very frank and open about what you want to do etc. So, unless you%26#039;re calling Schwarzman or Blankfein, most banks are usually quite amicable in this regard.

At the end of the day, initiative and perseverance are what%26#039;s needed. Of course, a penchant for working 100 hour weeks doesn%26#039;t hurt, either! :) So, good luck!

My wife is wondering how is the job market for a pharmacist in Houston?

My wife has 10 yrs experience (mostly at FDA) in pharmacy and would like a job that is 9-5pm, no weekends or holidays. Is she being realistic and what salary range should she expects?|||I know a pharmacist in Houston who makes 98k per year.

if she is serious about pharmacy school, check out http://www.pre-pharm.info|||That is unrealistic. Very few pharmacy jobs are 9-5pm in general. Unless you work as a specialist, don%26#039;t count on it. I don%26#039;t know the job market in Houston.|||oh, having the same question, wanna more details.

How do you present yourself in a job interview if you have a bad reputation in your industry?

How do you present yourself in an interview if you have a bad reputation in your industry?

My situation is that I nearly got fired from a job 4 years ago because of performance. However, I did move on from that, but people still want to bring that up everywhere I go.

Somehow I feel that some people don%26#039;t want to take a chance on me because of what others say. How do I get over other people saying things about me when I interview?|||Look, we all made our mistakes and yours was four years ago. Admit to your mistake and tell them what you have done the next four years. No doubt you have learned from your mistake and you now have good examples of your current success. Try to get some recommendations from the people you have worked with the last four years.

How do I go about preparing a resumé for a job as a mystery shopper?

I want a job as a mystery or secret shopper for a national organization (bricks and mortar, not web-only) with offices in my vicinity. They asked for a resumé, but you don%26#039;t study for this. How do I highlight my skills and my previous work and life experiences as useful in such a job like this?|||I cant imagine they hire anyone who has a career as a professional mystery shopper, so you want to put your resume together, and bring up in your interview, the skills that are most important. Highlight your :

* accomplishments that are unique

* ability to follow instructions to the letter

* attention to detail

* ability to be discreet

* thoroughness

* flexibility

Those I think would be important. At the end of the day, they are not hiring folks to split the atom, so as long as you dont have anything that knocks you out, you should be OK.

Good luck.

What are my chances of getting a job in usa?

If I came to usa and looked for a job, what chances of getting it do i stand, as a foreigner? Business and marketing background. 2 Degrees, one undergrad and one postgrad and a professional course (Diploma) - halfway to chartered status?|||Well, as it is right now.... the job market is rather poor in the US. I suppose it depends on your experience. Where you are from plays a role also. Many companies do international business and you might be cherished because of your nationality.

Also, the number of languages you speak goes into play.

It truly depends on where you move to also. I would suggest a big city that has businesses that deals internationally.

Good luck!|||100% you go it all girl.|||Very high! If you have a backround with business, two degrees, you have a very high chance! It%26#039;s pretty easy to get a job around here, the only places i%26#039;ve been out of the USA my whole life is Mexico twice, but the rest of my life i%26#039;ve lived in USA and it%26#039;s pretty easy to get a job, at least what i%26#039;ve been growing up around.|||open a 7 - 11 gas mart seems all them are run by foreigners

I don%26#039;t know where to start and it%26#039;s getting to the point where I might be without a job after Christmas. Help please any advice???!!!!|||I believe the Open University now offer the facility for you to obtain a PGCE in teaching. Why don%26#039;t you do this whilst sharing your talent as a tutor. There are many agencies that you can join on the strength of your degree and that could well tide you over the festive season. The %26#039;Open University%26#039; course will cost you but, if you are strapped for cash, it is something you can pick up as and when you choose.|||My advice -search all the teacher employment websites, in your state. Schools are looking to hire people out of college or with little or no experience so they can save money on salaries due to many budget constraints. Happened to me last year, they saved 23K on salaries Report Abuse
|||If in NJ, check out NJHire, NJSchoolJobs, NJ.com, Careerbuilder.net, look in the Sunday papers as well, Trenton times, asbury park press and star ledger Good luck Report Abuse
|||I take it you have a teaching qualification. You might like to look in papers such as the Times Educational Supplement or find the website for that region, they might have some online.|||As you have a music qualification you can approach Ed Authorities directly and work as a tutor, got on the phone to your local Authorities and get your name down. Claim as many instruments as you can. Surely you can add recorder? Oh and as a guitar player try a violin the prinicple is the same if a bit different. If you have the time offer to do things for local schools. How is your music tech. Primary schools always want recordings of MIDI files on CD. Good luck|||Have you been working as a peripatetic music teacher then? How did you get your current job?

If you%26#039;re wanting to start up in a new area, the best thing is probably to send your CV to all the local primary schools, to ask if they%26#039;re interested in taking you on or starting up guitar lessons in their school. You should include descriptions of how your lessons run, and if possible get some of your current pupils and their parents and teachers to write short recommendations for you.

If you%26#039;re now wanting to go into classroom teaching, you%26#039;ll need to get qualified. Some schools may be willing to train you %26#039;on the job%26#039; as part of the Graduate Teacher Programme, but any PGCE training probably can%26#039;t start until next September.
