How hard is it to get a job as a Pharmacy Tech when you first start?

I will be getting my certificate as a pharmacy Tech in six weeks. How hard will it be to get a job in the field. Please only answer if you know what you are talking about.|||Did you obtain a state license or did you pass the PTCB exam (or both)? For me, it was extremely difficult. I had to volunteer for 2 months at a hospital in order to obtain employment at that same hospital as a full-time CPhT (I did not want to work as a retail tech. Nothing wrong with working in retail. It%26#039;s just not my cup of tea.)

I would apply at retail pharmacies IN PERSON. Don%26#039;t do it online. You will not get any where with that. Visit the human resources departments in hospitals and complete an application there. Make sure to bring your resume, references and also copies of your license and PTCB certificate.

Good luck|||Currently, there is a glut of pharm techs. You may not get even a part time job until August. In Illinois, you don%26#039;t need to be certified immediately to be a pharm tech. All you need is to be 16 years old, have a clean criminal record, and have $40. Most of the local pharmacies will train you. Walgreens has its own PTCB training program. Apply today for a pharm tech job and try and get the phone number for the tech trainer/supervisor.|||I%26#039;d say its largely dependent on where you live, what the demand for those workers are, and how many schools are in that area that offer it.

My bf%26#039;s brother%26#039;s wife is a pharm tech. However because there is a lot of colleges around there that all offer pharm tech, and its a relatively small place, the area is crowded with unemployed pharm techs.

Your school might be able to help you land a job.|||Depends on the demand in your area, mostly. And often times there is a decent level of demand. I work with a lady that hires for our pharmacy and I know that the types of stuff she asks in interviews determines who she hires, and there are many people who apply that do not have the certification. You having the certification should increase your chances greatly.|||not hard.
