What to wear to an interview for a substitute teaching job?

I have an interview tomorrow for a substitute teaching job and I was planning on wearing tan khakis and a tucked in dress shirt with no tie. Is this appropriate or should I be more formal and go with the tie. I don%26#039;t want to over dress and I figure since teaching jobs are probably business casual I would be dressed just fine. What are your opinions?|||As a Substitute for over 20 yrs, I can tell you that looking professional is key.

You want to present yourself as flexible to new situations (daily requirement as a sub), available (including same day requests), self-sufficient (the interview is not the place to ask about lunch breaks, knowledge of topics, school discipline,etc..) You also need to appear concerned for school security and safety procedures.

Being always available, open-minded and flexible is the key to getting to work. But beware - most school districts don%26#039;t value their subs and don%26#039;t manage their substitute pool as important resources. Take care of yourself - don%26#039;t expect anyone to %26quot;let you know%26quot;, ask questions..

Good luck...|||I think you should wear the tie to the interview. Most school are looking for teachers who are conservative. Although the job is casual, you should dress the right way to a job interview. It shows that you really want the job and you are serious.|||Suit! Suit! Suit! If you are applying for a teacher position, dress like you are applying for the Principal position!! Good luck.|||Wear a nice suit. You really should dres more formallythan business casual for an interview.

In some parts of the country teachers dress in casual clothers, in other parts it%26#039;s buisness casual (like where you are, apparently). In some areas (where I live) it%26#039;s shirt and tie every day.

But for an interview... you should go a little more formal to show your professionality.

Maybe this eBook can help you prepare for the interview: How to Get a Teaching Job - http://www.iwantateachingjob.com It%26#039;s got lots of common teacher interview questions and answers, information about what to wear, and interview tips.

Good luck at the interview. I hope you get the job!
