How do I find a job as a merchandiser or vendor for a department store?

I have worked in a department store for about a year now, have other sales experience, and a degree in Fine Arts. I would like to put out and organize merchandise in department stores. How do I find a job doing this? Do I go directly to the company, such as Kenneth Cole, or is their a third party?|||I think you mostly have to climb the ladder at one of those places to get that kind of job.
