What is the best way to find an education related job out of the academic environment?

I have a friend who has been teaching writing and English at a university for 15 years, but is looking for a change.

He specialized in %26quot;service learning%26quot;, meaning that he taught a class on a given subject, then participated in a related service project (volunteering locally, traveling to other countries to help the poor, etc). He wants to continue with this work, but he really needs a better paying job -this sort of work doesn%26#039;t pay much. He is also reluctant to give up his current vocation (not wanting to believe that all of his academic work was in vain) .

Are there any sort of non-academic positions out there for someone like this? I would really like to help him in his job search, but don%26#039;t have the slightest idea as to where to look. He is such a stellar guy that I know he would do well in whatever he chose to do...but I think he needs some help in finding a job that is more %26quot;out of the box%26quot;.

Any ideas?

Thanks!|||A good %26quot;out of the box%26quot; way for your friend to earn money would be to either freelance or get a job with a company that teaches business writing through seminars for professional.

If he is well-spoken and somewhat dynamic, he could probably even start his own business consulting companies on;

public speaking

business writing

business communication

There is a high demand for this type of training- basically teaching people why its innapropriate to use LOL in a business email
