My boss was an abusive boss and after three years of being her target I took her through union arbitration during the last year I worked there. I worked there for five years. This however just made her worse. Finally, I just quit. I am getting negative job references and don%26#039;t know how to explain to prospective employers why I resigned and why my references are not good. I was a good worker however this boss not only targeted my co-worker for the first two years, but she then targeted me for the next three years after that. Please advise. I don%26#039;t want to sound like I%26#039;m making excuses or whining about my previous employer.|||Be honest and tell the employers what was going on and don%26#039;t try to make it sound worse than it was but tell them wwhat happened and then let them decide whether they will believe you and let them take their desicion from there. Just being honest is the best thing to do. if they dont believe you then it might not be the best job for you.
Hope that helps you.|||when asked why you left your last job, say you felt it was time to move on, if you can prove your getting a bad reference
get a lawyer.|||Don%26#039;t list that reference.|||Use union references instead.|||just don%26#039;t list that job on you app or resume|||List someone else as your supervisor at that job.|||FIRST OF ALL IT IS ILLEGAL FOR YOUR BOSS TO GIVE A BAD REFERENCE OF U TO ANYONE, THE ONLY THING A PREVIOUS BOSS CAN ANSWER IS THAT YOU DID OR DID NOT WORK FOR HIS COMPANY HE CANNOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR WORK ETHICS WETHER GOOD OR BAD.|||I%26#039;d have someone call and pretend they were a prospective employer for you wanting a reference. This way you can see exactly what she is saying. By law thay can not slander you. And by law employers can only ask questions like, %26quot;did this person work for you?%26quot; %26quot; Would you rehire them?%26quot; They can%26#039;t even ask why if they say they wouldn%26#039;t hire you! I would just look into business laws a little and if this woman is really slandering you take her to court! Hope I helped!
